Welcome

Before we get to the other things, I would like to ask you to consider something that will only take a few minutes of your time.   If you died today, do you know where you would end up?  Have you ever lied, stolen, lusted after or hated someone?   The Bible says all these are sins and it is sin that separates us from God.  Because God is just, He requires payment for your sins just as an upright judge would require payment for a fine.  A judge wouldn’t let you off the hook because you were a good person.  If you couldn’t pay that fine then you would be subject to punishment.  In the same way God will not accept that you are a good person any more than the judge would.  He requires payment and if that payment isn’t made then your punishment is eternity separated from Him in the place we call hell.  The good news is Someone has already paid that fine for you.  Jesus Christ, God’s son, was sent to pay the price for our Sins.  Because He was fully God, He was the only sinless person who ever lived.  Yet He chose to give His life that we might have eternity with God in heaven.  The only thing you have to do is truly repent (or be sorry for) your sins.  Turn away from them and accept that gift.  It isn’t forced on you.  You have to take the step yourself to accept the gift of salvation.  I know that turning away from some of your sins isn’t easy.  No one expects an immediate change, but with time God will help you and I’ve found He usually replaces those things we used to desire with new, better things.

If you are sincerely ready to repent of your sins and accept that gift of salvation then here is how.  Talk to God openly and honestly from your heart.  Something like this. “Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in Heaven for me. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life.”
